About Insulation Crisis Help
Plain-English guidance for UK homeowners dealing with insulation that has gone wrong, and a way to reach a specialist when the fix needs paying for.
Who runs this site
Insulation Crisis Help is run by Harber Glaves Trading Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16605946), registered office Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE. The same company runs Better Home Hub, the network of home-improvement sites this one belongs to.
We are an advice and introduction service. We publish guidance, and with your consent we pass enquiries to specialists who may pay Better Home Hub a fee for the introduction. We do not carry out surveys or building work, and we are not a government body, Ofgem, TrustMark, CIGA, a law firm or a claims management company.
Why the site exists
In October 2025 the National Audit Office reported on wall insulation fitted under the government's ECO4 and Great British Insulation Scheme programmes. It estimated that 98% of homes with external wall insulation, and 29% with internal wall insulation, had major issues needing repair. In January 2026 the Public Accounts Committee called it a "clear and catastrophic failure".
Homeowners in that position, and people with problems from spray foam, cavity wall or privately installed insulation, often do not know where to start. The official routes are spread across TrustMark, Ofgem, guarantee providers and ombudsmen, and some of them are free. This site tries to set those routes out clearly, so you can:

- Find the free audit, guarantee or complaint route that applies to you before paying anyone
- Check any company you are thinking of using
- Reach a specialist through us if the work does need paying for
